A simple way to visit the Blue Lagoon from Reykjavík. The return bus and Comfort admission are included, so you just pick a time, ride out through the lava fields and spend a relaxed few hours in the warm blue water.
The Blue Lagoon sits in a black lava field on the Reykjanes Peninsula, about 45 minutes' drive from Reykjavík. The milky-blue water is geothermal seawater from the nearby Svartsengi power plant, rich in silica and minerals, and stays at around 37–40°C all year.
This package takes care of the logistics. The bus leaves from BSÍ bus terminal in Reykjavík, and the whole trip takes about four hours, including the drive both ways. At the lagoon you get the Comfort admission, which includes a towel, a silica mud mask and one drink at the swim-up bar.
The silica is good for your skin but hard on your hair. Use the conditioner in the changing rooms before you go in and keep long hair tied up. Take off silver jewellery too, as the minerals can tarnish it.
The lagoon is popular and entry works on booked time slots, so book ahead, especially in summer. The Reykjanes Peninsula has had several eruptions near Grindavík since 2023, and the lagoon has closed for short periods because of them, so check for updates before you go.
From BSÍ bus terminal in central Reykjavík. Choose your departure time when you book, and be there 10 minutes early. Hotel pick-up can be added for an extra fee.
The whole trip takes about four hours, and the drive is about 45 minutes each way, so you have a good few hours in the water.
Entry to the lagoon, a towel, a silica mud mask and one drink at the in-water bar.
Yes, from age 2. Children under 9 wear armbands, which the lagoon provides.
It can make it stiff for a day or two. Use the free conditioner before you go in and keep long hair tied up.

Kat · June 2025The tour to the Blue Lagoon was great. We were looking for something simple to add to our last full day in Iceland and we also wanted to explore Reykjavik on that day. The Blue Lagoon was always on our bucket list so it fit perfectly with our trip. I reached out to Iceland Travel Guide and received a response within minutes with an itinerary that was perfect for our trip. It included everything that I wanted to to in Iceland. So I can highly recommend that you send them an email or a message on Facebook like we did and get your plan put together by them.
