Blue LagoonBlue LagoonBlue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon is a milky-blue geothermal spa on the Reykjanes peninsula. The water is geothermal seawater from the nearby Svartsengi power plant, rich in silica and minerals, and it stays at 37 to 40°C all year, whatever the weather outside. The silica gives the water its blue-white colour and a slightly cloudy, mineral feel. The lagoon holds about nine million litres, renewed roughly every 40 hours. Bathe in the geothermal lagoon, using the silica mud and algae mask stations and a drink from the in-water bar, with a robe and towel for between dips.

About the Blue Lagoon premium package

The premium package is a step up from the standard comfort admission at the Blue Lagoon. Alongside the silica mud mask, you also get an algae mask, plus a towel and a bathrobe so you can move between the water and the relaxation areas without getting cold.

The lagoon's geothermal water sits at around 37–39°C in a lava field roughly 800 years old, and the premium package's drink and mask stations are all part of the in-water experience, so you barely need to leave the water. If you want to make an evening of it, the package can be combined with a dinner reservation at the on-site LAVA Restaurant, though the meal itself is booked and paid separately.

Coach transfer is included, with a flexible return time so you are not rushed out of the water. Bring your own swimwear; a robe and towel are provided as part of the premium package.
