A four-day tour built around ice. You see the Golden Circle and the south coast, visit an ice cave near Jökulsárlón, and on the last day ride an eight-wheel glacier truck onto Langjökull to walk inside a tunnel carved into the ice.
This tour runs all year and always includes two ice experiences: an ice cave on day 2 and the Langjökull ice tunnel on day 4. In winter (October to April) the ice cave is a natural cave in Vatnajökull, reached on a guided glacier hike. In summer it is the Katla ice cave, which can be visited all year.
You spend about two hours on the ice on day 2, with crampons and all safety gear. Waterproof hiking boots are needed, as they are the only kind that fit crampons.
The first two nights are at Hotel Geirland or a similar country hotel, the third in Reykjavík. Rooms have private bathrooms and breakfast is included.
From October to April, a natural ice cave in Vatnajökull reached on a glacier hike. In summer, the Katla ice cave.
It is a man-made tunnel dug into the glacier, so it is open all year. It is a different experience from the natural ice cave on day 2.
