Glacier lagoons, black sand beaches, hot springs under the northern lights and hotels where you can see the sky from your bed. Iceland is a beautiful place to start married life, and a quiet one: outside Reykjavík you can drive for an hour and see more waterfalls than people.
We are a local travel agency in Iceland, and we plan private honeymoons and couples' trips for our guests every year. Looking for other trips? See all our Iceland vacation packages. Below are three ready-made honeymoon packages, two with your own private guide and one self-drive. Each is a starting point. We change the hotels, the pace and the activities to suit you, and add the extras you want.
6-day private honeymoon – Golden Circle, South Coast and the Glacier Lagoon
Private guide and vehicle for 6 days from 495,800 ISK for the two of you. Honeymoon hotels added in your quote.Ask for a quote
Your own driver-guide and vehicle from the moment you land. You stop where you like, for as long as you like, and never have to think about the road or the weather.
Day 1 – Arrival and Sky Lagoon. Private pick-up at Keflavík airport. In the afternoon, Sky Lagoon for two with private changing rooms and the seven-step ritual (Sky Lagoon for two). Night in Reykjavík: The Reykjavík EDITION, or the Exeter Hotel for a smaller boutique stay.
Day 2 – Golden Circle. Þingvellir, Geysir and Gullfoss with your guide, plus quieter stops such as Brúarfoss. Night at ION Adventure Hotel (ION Adventure Hotel), with a spa and a bar built for watching the northern lights, or at Hotel Geysir.
Day 3 – South Coast waterfalls. Seljalandsfoss, where you can walk behind the water, and Skógafoss. Night in a glass lodge such as Harmony Seljalandsfoss, or at Aurora Igloo near Hella, where you can watch the sky from your bed.
Day 4 – Black beaches and the Glacier Lagoon. Reynisfjara and Vík, then east to Jökulsárlón and Diamond Beach, where icebergs wash up on the black sand. Night at Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon or Hotel Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon.
Day 5 – Ice or water. From October to April, a private ice cave tour. From May to October, kayaking among the icebergs on Heinabergslón, a quieter glacier lagoon a little further east (glacier lagoon kayaking). Then back west. Night at Hotel Vík, or Black Beach Suites (Black Beach Suites) for an apartment with a view to Dyrhólaey.
Day 6 – Caves and departure. On the way back, a private visit to the Caves of Hella with a tasting of local whisky, gin and mead (Caves of Hella private tour). Private transfer to the airport or to Reykjavík if you stay longer.
Would you rather stay in Reykjavík every night and take private day tours? See our 6-day private tour package.
4-day private honeymoon – Snæfellsnes and the northern lights
A shorter trip for couples who want Iceland's wild west coast and a few nights of real quiet.
Day 1 – Arrival in Reykjavík. Private airport pick-up (included in both private packages). In the evening, a northern lights yacht cruise from the Old Harbour (September to April) (Northern Lights yacht cruise). Night at the Exeter Hotel or The Reykjavík EDITION.
Day 2 – Snæfellsnes. Your guide drives you to the peninsula: Kirkjufell mountain, the cliffs at Arnarstapi and the black church at Búðir. Night at Hótel Búðir (Hótel Búðir), a hotel standing on its own by the church and the sea.
Day 3 – Golden Circle. Back east to Þingvellir, Geysir and Gullfoss. Night at ION Adventure Hotel or Hotel Geysir. In winter we can add a private northern lights hunt (private northern lights tour).
Day 4 – Departure. Private transfer to the airport, with a stop at a hot spring lagoon on the way if your flight allows.
Would you rather stay in Reykjavík every night? See our 5-day private tour package, with your own guide for the Golden Circle, the South Coast and Snæfellsnes.
7-day self-drive honeymoon – Snæfellsnes, South Coast and the Glacier Lagoon
From 282,600 ISK for two with car and standard hotels. Honeymoon hotels added in your quote.Ask for a quote
For couples who want the road to themselves. You get the rental car, the hotels with breakfast and a day-by-day route with our favourite romantic stops. We are a phone call away the whole trip.
Day 1 – Reykjavík. Pick up your car at the airport. Night at the Exeter Hotel.
Day 2 – Snæfellsnes. Kirkjufell, Arnarstapi, Djúpalónssandur beach and the black church at Búðir at sunset. Night at Hótel Búðir.
Day 3 – Golden Circle. Þingvellir, Brúarfoss, Geysir and Gullfoss. Night at Hotel Geysir or ION Adventure Hotel.
Day 4 – South Coast. Seljalandsfoss, Gljúfrabúi hidden inside its canyon, Skógafoss. Night in a glass lodge such as Harmony Seljalandsfoss, or at Aurora Igloo near Hella.
Day 5 – The Glacier Lagoon. Reynisfjara, Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon, then Jökulsárlón and Diamond Beach at golden hour. Night at Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon or Hotel Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon.
Day 6 – Ice, then Vík. A guided ice cave from October to April, or a glacier hike in summer, then back to Vík. Night at Black Beach Suites or Hotel Vík.
Day 7 – Back to the airport. With a stop at a lagoon on the way, or a helicopter flight over Reykjavík that lands on a mountain top for a glass of sparkling wine (Helicopter Happy Hour).
The route is close to our 7-day Snæfellsnes and South Coast self-drive (May to September) and its winter version (September to April), with a first night in Reykjavík and honeymoon hotels instead of the standard ones. In winter we recommend a 4x4, or one of the private packages.

Questions people ask
When is the best time for a honeymoon in Iceland?
It depends on what you want to see. From September to April you have long nights and a chance of the northern lights, and in winter the natural ice caves are open. From May to August the days are long, the roads are open and you can see the midnight sun. September and March give you a bit of both.
Can we change the hotels or the length of the trip?
Yes. The three packages are starting points. We can add or remove nights, choose between the hotels listed on this page, move between private days and self-drive days, or plan a completely different route. If you have another hotel in mind, we plan it as a custom trip.
Should we choose a private tour or self-drive?
Choose private if you want to relax and look out of the window, especially in winter when the roads can be icy. Choose self-drive if you like to set your own pace and enjoy driving. You can also mix the two, for example a private guide for the Golden Circle and a car for the rest.
Can you add a special surprise for our partner?
Yes. Tell us what you have in mind (flowers, champagne, a private dinner, a photographer) and we will check what is possible and confirm the price before you book. We keep it a secret if you ask us to.
How much does an Iceland honeymoon cost?
Our honeymoon trips start from about 282,600 ISK for two for a 7-day self-drive and from 495,800 ISK for a 6-day trip with your own private guide. The final price depends on the season and the hotels you choose. Send us your dates and we reply within 24 hours with a full plan and price.
How far ahead should we book?
As early as you can. The glass lodges and the hotels by the glacier lagoon have few rooms, and summer and the Christmas and New Year weeks fill up first. Send us your dates and we will tell you what is still available.
Can we see the northern lights on our honeymoon?
If you travel between September and April, you have a good chance on clear, dark nights. We pick hotels away from city lights, and we can add a northern lights cruise or a private northern lights tour. The aurora is never guaranteed, so we plan the trip to be special even on cloudy nights. See our private and luxury Northern Lights tours.
