Þórsmörk is a green valley between three glaciers, reached only by rough tracks and river crossings. On this tour a Super Jeep takes you in, and instead of leaving in the afternoon like most visitors, you stay the night in a mountain hut, with a barbecue dinner and the valley to yourselves in the evening.
Þórsmörk, the Valley of Thor, lies between Eyjafjallajökull, Mýrdalsjökull and Tindfjallajökull. Sheltered by the glaciers, it is full of birch woods, moss and ferns, cut through by glacier rivers. Icelanders love it, and it is the end point of the Laugavegur trek.
The road in is a highland track with unbridged rivers, which is why you need a modified Super Jeep and an experienced driver-guide. Staying the night lets you see the valley in the evening light, after the day tours have left.
You stay in a double room in a mountain hut in Húsadalur. All meals are included from lunch on day 1 to lunch on day 2, with a traditional mountain barbecue on the first evening (or a special diet on request).
The road into Þórsmörk crosses glacier rivers with no bridges. Ordinary cars and even most 4x4s cannot make it safely.

Yes, the tour runs all year. In winter the valley is snowy and quiet, and the river crossings depend on conditions.
