About the Langjökull snowmobile tour

This tour is a good way to add a glacier to a Golden Circle day. You meet near Geysir, and a Super Jeep drives you up the rough mountain track to the snowmobile base on Langjökull, Iceland's second-largest glacier.

At base camp you get a snowmobile suit, helmet, balaclava, goggles and gloves, and your guide explains how to drive safely. Then you ride in a line behind the guide for about an hour across the ice cap. On a clear day you can see far across the highlands, to the Eiríksjökull and Hofsjökull glaciers.

Snowmobiles are shared by two people, and the driver needs a valid car driving licence. If you want your own snowmobile, choose the solo option when booking. No experience is needed, and the riding is easy for most people in fair condition.

It is cold and windy on the glacier all year, even in summer, so wear warm layers under the overalls. In bad weather the tour can be changed or cancelled, and in winter the drive to the meeting point can be icy, so leave plenty of time.

Highly recommended!

We had an unforgettable experience snowmobiling on Langjökull Glacier! The views were absolutely stunning — endless white landscapes and crystal-clear skies. Our guide was fantastic: knowledgeable, fun, and made us feel completely safe throughout the tour. Riding across the glacier was a thrilling adventure and definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Iceland.

Great day and trip to Iceland overall

Had the most amazing time on this snowmobile tour - Heida from Iceland Travel Guide helped me plan my whole trip to Iceland and I could not be more thankful for her! So many tips that we did not know about.
The snowmobile tour was very smooth - we did not find our guide in the beginning, but after we found him, everything was great. The guide was a lot of fun and the whole group had an amazing time.

Fantastic tour

Fantastic experience on this tour. Booked a few activities with P from Iceland Travel Guide and he was a great help. It started with a phone call with him and then he planned our entire trip. We made a few comments and he gave us excellent feedback. Our trip turned out great and this snowmobile was fantastic. Look forward to travel to Iceland again and will definitely reach out to him again.
