This Sky Lagoon and northern lights tour pairs the Sky Lagoon's Skjól ritual, with its ocean-view infinity pool, with an evening hunt for the aurora. It runs through autumn, winter and spring, when the dark evenings give you a chance at both.
The Sky Lagoon sits right on the coast just outside Reykjavík, with an infinity-edge pool that makes it look like the warm water runs straight into the ocean. This tour combines a visit there with an evening northern lights hunt, so you get a relaxing soak first and then head out to look for the aurora once it is dark.
The Skjól ritual is the lagoon's signature experience: a sequence of a cold plunge, a sauna with an ocean view, a cold mist, a sea salt scrub, a steam room and a traditional crowberry elixir at the end. It takes a while to go through properly, so build in time to enjoy it rather than rushing.
The northern lights part of the evening depends entirely on the weather and solar activity, and nothing can be guaranteed. If the lights don't appear, most operators offer a free rebooking onto a later date, so ask about that when you book. Because of the late finish and the cold, this tour only runs in the darker months, roughly September to April.
No. Sightings depend on clear skies and solar activity. If you don't see the lights, you can join the next standard Northern Lights tour for free; this rebooking is valid for up to two years.
The minimum age is 12 on this tour.
Swimwear for the lagoon and a warm layer for afterwards, since you will be outside looking for the lights.
Around 6.5 hours from pick-up to drop-off, including time in the lagoon and the drive out to look for the aurora.
