Dynjandi is the largest waterfall in the Westfjords. Rather than one narrow drop, it spreads out like a bridal veil as it falls about 100 metres down the mountainside above Arnarfjörður, about 30 metres wide at the top and 60 at the base. Six smaller named waterfalls step down the slope below it, so the walk up passes seven in all.

About the Dynjandi waterfall super jeep tour

Dynjandi is the best-known waterfall in the Westfjords, a series of cascades that widen as they fall until the water fans out like a bridal veil. It sits well outside Ísafjörður on roads that are not always practical in a normal car, so a super jeep with a local guide is the easiest way to see it without driving yourself.

The drive itself is part of the tour. You go through quiet Westfjords scenery, past farmland and along the fjord, with your guide stopping for photos and pointing out what you are looking at. At Dynjandi you get a full hour to walk up alongside the falls and take it in properly.

The Westfjords see far fewer visitors than the south or the Golden Circle, so the roads and the waterfall itself are usually quiet. Weather here can change quickly and some mountain roads close in winter, so your guide chooses the route on the day.

The best day in stunning Westfjords

Magnificent experience. The guide was excellent and the Westfjords are one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. We have traveled a bit around Iceland and Norway and the landscape in the Westfjords is simply stunning! Dynjandi waterfall is also my new favorite waterfall.
We came to Isafjordur on a cruise and chose this tour since it had very flexible cancellation policy. We do not regret it one second going on this tour!

Incredible

The tour was incredible. Our guide had lots of great info to share and showed us the beautiful places. The jeep ride was comfortable and we were only 4 in our group. Great great experience, totally recommend the company and the tour.

Recommend this tour to everyone on a cruise ship!

Magnificent tour on our cruise stop in Isafjordur. We were so happy that we did not book the huge bus tour through the cruise and decided to go with a local guide in his jeep. We had the best day and after we got back on the cruise and meeting other passengers who did the huge bus tour and were not happy with it.
The guide was exceptional, he was born and raised in Isafjordur and told us some great stories along the way. The sightings were of course magnificent like everything we saw in Iceland.
I really want to recommend to anyone stopping in Isafjordur on their cruise to go with the local guides instead of going with the people from the cruise ships who have not even been to Iceland before.
