About the 6-day South Coast and Westfjords tour

Most visitors to Iceland see the south coast. Far fewer get to the Westfjords, a region of steep fjords, empty beaches and huge bird cliffs in the north-west. This tour gives you both, in a small group with one guide and a minibus.

The first part, days 1 to 3, is a loop from Reykjavík along the south coast to Jökulsárlón and back. The second part, days 4 to 6, is a loop through the southern and central Westfjords. The two parts run as separate tours: if one is cancelled for weather or road conditions, you can still join the other.

You stay in country hotels with private bathrooms and breakfast. Lunch is at a restaurant or shop chosen by the guide, and dinner is usually at the hotel; neither is included.

Questions people ask

Can I join only the Westfjords part?

Not on this booking. The tour is sold as six days, but the two parts run separately, so if one is cancelled you still do the other.

Are meals included?

Breakfast is included every morning from day 2. Lunch and dinner are not; budget for them.

Will we see puffins?

Puffins nest at Látrabjarg from about May to August, so on most departures in June, July and early August you have a very good chance.

Do I need a single room?

No. If you travel alone and do not book a single room, you share with another traveller of the same gender.

How fit do I need to be?

The tour is easy. The longest walks are the Svartifoss trail, the ice cave visit and the steps at Skógafoss, and you can skip any of them.
