Which pass should I choose?

  • Have your own way to get there? The Saman Pass on its own covers the lagoon and ritual for less.
  • No car and don't want to book a taxi? Add the return transfer and it's all handled for you.
  • Want your own space to change? Choose the Sér Pass, which trades the shared changing rooms for a private one.

About Sky Lagoon

Sky Lagoon opened in Kópavogur in 2021, right on the coast a short drive from central Reykjavík. Its main draw is the infinity edge, a 70-metre stretch of the lagoon where the warm water seems to run straight into Faxaflói bay.

Every pass includes the 7-step Skjól ritual: a cold plunge, a sauna looking out to sea, a cold mist, a body scrub, a steam room and a shower, finishing with a traditional crowberry elixir. The lagoon itself is the same water at around 38 to 40°C whichever pass you choose; the difference between passes is the changing rooms and whether a transfer is included, not the lagoon experience.

It's popular with both visitors and locals, so book a time slot ahead, especially in summer and around sunset. Bring a swimsuit; towels are included on every pass.

Sky Lagoon FAQ

What's the difference between the Saman and Sér passes?

The lagoon and the 7-step ritual are the same on both. The Sér Pass adds a private changing room, shower and vanity area instead of the shared public ones.

Do I need to bring a towel?

No, a towel is included with every pass.

Is there a minimum age?

Yes, Sky Lagoon requires guests to be at least 12.

Is transport included?

Only if you book the Saman Pass with return transfer, or add the shuttle-only option. The standard Saman and Sér passes don't include transport.

How far is it from Reykjavík?

About 15–20 minutes' drive from the city centre.

Is there a package for couples?

Yes. Sky Lagoon for Two comes with either a shared platter and drinks at Smakk Bar, or breakfast at Keimur café in the morning, on Saman or Sér passes.

How do I buy Sky Lagoon tickets?

Choose your pass and time above and book online with instant confirmation. Sky Lagoon runs on booked entry times, so book ahead, especially for sunset.

What is the best Sky Lagoon package?

For most visitors the Saman Pass is enough. Choose the Sér Pass for a private changing room, Sky Lagoon for Two for a couples' treat with food and drinks, or a pass with transfer if you do not have a car.
