The Earth Essential ticket is the simple way into Earth Lagoon Mývatn, the former Mývatn Nature Baths: the milky-blue lagoon, the hot tubs and the natural steam baths, with a locker and a private shower.
Earth Lagoon Mývatn, known until recently as the Mývatn Nature Baths, sits on the hillside at Jarðbaðshólar just east of Reynihlíð by Lake Mývatn in North Iceland. It is about an hour's drive from Akureyri, and an easy stop on the Diamond Circle.
The milky-blue water comes from a borehole about 2,500 metres deep. It is rich in minerals and alkaline, which makes it pleasant for bathing. There are also two natural steam baths built over the geothermal ground, where sulphur steam rises through holes in the floor.
The Essential ticket covers everything you need for a relaxing soak: standard changing rooms, a locker, a private shower and access to the lagoon, hot tubs and steam baths. Bring your own towel or rent one at reception. Most people stay about an hour and a half.
