About the Perlan Wonders of Iceland

Perlan sits on Öskjuhlíð hill just outside the city centre, and the Wonders of Iceland exhibition inside is built around the country's nature: an ice cave, a glacier exhibit, a section on Iceland's volcanic activity, and displays on birdlife including a recreation of the Látrabjarg cliffs. It works well on a day when the weather outside is not cooperating, since it is all indoors.

The ice cave is the centrepiece: a real, man-made tunnel of ice kept below freezing, so wrap up before you go in even if it is mild outside. The planetarium show on the Northern Lights is a good option if you are visiting outside aurora season or simply do not want to stay up late chasing them, since it recreates the display regardless of the weather.

Give yourself around two hours to see the exhibition properly, and add more time if you want to eat at the on-site restaurant or linger on the observation deck, which gives a wide view over Reykjavik and the coastline.

Nice experience in Reykjavik

Perlan was a nice experience in Reykjavik. Our kids loved it. We had help from Iceland Travel Guides to help us plan our trip and this is what we did:
Day 1: Reykjavik Food Tour - great experience!
Day 2: Golden Circle, tomato farm and Sky Lagoon - our best day, were really in awe of the Icelandic nature
Day 3: South Coast tour - stunning landscapes
Day 4: Time in Reykjavik, went to Perlan Museum and the Lava show
Day 5: A trip all the way to Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon and the diamond beach - long day but worth it.
