About the glacier zipline and glacier hike tour

This summer tour combines a guided glacier hike and a zip line ride on Sólheimajökull, a glacier tongue of Mýrdalsjökull on the South Coast. You meet at the Sólheimajökull glacier parking lot, where your guide hands out crampons, a harness and a helmet with headlamp.

The hike is about 2 hours in total: the first half is flat but rocky, then about 40 minutes up a gradual incline on the ice, where your guide points out moulins and crevasses. Then you are strapped into your harness for the zip line over the glacier. A "no fly" ticket lets you do the hike and watch the zip line instead.

A professional photographer comes along, and 5 personal photos per person are included. Dress in warm layers with a waterproof outer layer; clothing and hiking boots can be hired if needed.
